There are two Greek words that are translated "
envy". One is "
zeal" as in "
jealous" but implies a competition for the same goal. The other word is only used in the
GNT (Greek New Testament) and is what is often called "
envy" but without the competition for the same goal.
This other ward is used
2 times in Matthew and Mark in the same context.
It is used
5 times by Paul and
1 time by James and
1 time by Peter. It is sometimes used with the other Greek word for "
envy".
